Today, Raymumd Cuevo, Walt Whitman High School, class of 1978, released a digitized version of the super 8mm film that he and I produced in 1977 to promote the Walt Whitman High School student music group, Spectre. The film, The Ralph of Sprectre, was shot on location, largely at Walt Whitman High School, however, we also shot footage of the film in Bethany Beach, Delaware as well as points in close proximity to the high school, including Glen Echo Amusement Park in Glen Echo.

Spectre was at the time Raymund Cuevo, percussion, Eric Lefcowitz, guitar, vocals, and myself, Greg Pichler, guitar, vocals. We later as Whitman alumni added Edward Rosenthal, as a guitarist, and renamed the group, The Headlights. On July 28, 1978 the group played at a party hosted by class of 1978 alumni, Pilar Cunningham Klein, and the following year the group performed at a Basmitzvah of a relative of Class of 1978 alumni, Mike Bennet.

Spectre was one of many music groups that students self organized at the time. Chris Mills, Andrew Forrest, James Levy, Andrew Breslau, Adam Bresnick, Frank Janotta, Peter Sprague, Mark Squier, Mike Albrecht, David Maher, Geoff Smith, Dan Smith, Roger Greenwald, Clark Goodpaster, Rob Fisher, Jeffrey Nelson, Boo Elmer, Marty Lewis, Paul Manning, Mindy Gertler, Lisa Muchnick, were all involved in music in and outside the high school cirriculum. Spectre was far more under-the-radar than the people listed above.

While attending Whitman Eric Lefcowitz and I performed at a single Coffee House event in February, 1978.
